Green Man Gaming Publishing partners with French studio DEVS MUST DIE on Skybolt Zack

By | Blog

Green Man Gaming Publishing are thrilled to announce their latest publishing deal and first ever console release. The partnership with French developer, DEVS MUST DIE, will bring Skybolt Zack – an all new take on high speed, reflex testing, platform action – to gamers worldwide later this year.

Skybolt Zack was originally created as a student project at Parisian video game school, ISART Digital Paris, and draws inspiration from classic platformers and Japanese rhythm games. Starting out on PC, Green Man Gaming Publishing will be taking its first step into the console market as the game will also launch on Nintendo Switch.

On the move to console, David Clark, Managing Director of Green Man Gaming Publishing, had this to say: “It has long been an ambition for Green Man Gaming to expand our horizons and extend our reach beyond PC gaming. When we first saw Skybolt Zack it was almost immediately apparent that this was the game for us to make that jump! The work that DEVS MUST DIE have done with Skybolt Zack in a relatively short time have impressed us tremendously. They are incorporating options for players which we’re not seeing in products from much larger, long standing studios and we can’t wait to show more to the community at various events across the summer.”

London, January 13th 2021 – Payload Studios today launched its new inclusion initiative for 2021. The creators of TerraTech are calling for up to eight early-stage game developers from underrepresented groups to apply to its new Tentacle Zone Incubator programme. The successful applicants will benefit from peer-to-peer learning with more established studios, as well as mentoring and tutoring from a diverse group of industry experts in five key areas, across a four month business support programme:

  2. Business planning; preparing your studio for the future
  3. Production, design and development
  4. Marketing and PR
  5. Funding and finance

The incubator’s academic partner, the University of Greenwich, has been chosen due to the institution’s strong understanding of the social barriers facing students in game development, especially from underrepresented groups.

For details of how to sign up go here: LINK

Russell Clarke, Co-Founder and CEO of Payload Studios and Nisha Valand, Programme Director of Tentacle Zone Workspace stated:

“Making workplaces and the industry more inclusive is not an overnight task, but the more we learn about diversity and inclusion, the more we realise that we should and can, be taking action to challenge the inequity in the games industry. We are delighted to be working closely with our partners Creative England’s Creative Enterprise, Tonic Games Group, Green Man Gaming, Ukie and the University of Greenwich as well as those industry professionals who have signed up to help deliver our new incubator programme. At Payload, we have always valued the benefits of being part of a strong community of game developers and we hope that via our Tentacle Zone platform and the learnings from our Game On initiative so far, we can help drive positive change by supporting early stage founders from traditionally underrepresented backgrounds.”

Dr. Jo Twist OBE, CEO of Ukie, stated:

“The Tentacle Zone Incubator is a perfect example of how the principles of the industry-wide #RaiseTheGame pledge can be turned into meaningful action. Initiatives like this play an important role in making our sector more equal, diverse and inclusive and we encourage founders from all underrepresented backgrounds to apply.”

Haley Edwards, Creative Enterprise Programme Manager, added:

“The UK’s games industry continues to be an impressive driving force for the nation’s economy, yet research shows, for example, that people of colour and women remain underrepresented, particularly in leadership roles. We’re proud to be collaborating on this vital programme to give opportunity for underrepresented founders from across England to grow their games businesses with support from the industry’s leaders.”

Darrenlloyd Gent, Programme Leader and Principal Lecturer, Games and Digital Media at University of Greenwich stated:

“At the University of Greenwich we’ve sought to support the games industry as well as our local community, and this initiative very much mirrors the diverse nature of our university, as well as the independent and resourceful graduates that our games degrees produce”.

Ian McGregor, CMO, Green Man Gaming said:

“Inclusion is a core value at Green Man Gaming, we believe games are for everyone and everyone should have the opportunity to create them. We are excited to partner with Payload Studios on this initiative to help support creative talent from underrepresented groups and drive diversity within the UK industry.”

“At Tonic Games Group, we believe that games are for everyone! That means backing a future that includes more diverse creators, players, and games. We want to support a wider set of people and help equip them with the skills and opportunities to build rewarding careers and amazing studios. The Tentacle Zone has a remarkable track record of amplifying voices, so we’re delighted to partner with them in their mission to create more and better opportunities for founders from underrepresented backgrounds.”

This year’s incubator programme is the evolution of Payload Studios’ established Tentacle Zone initiative, which includes a virtual community of games studios and digital programme for existing residents, exhibition stand, a co-working space and incorporates the principles of the company’s diversity initiative, Game On.

By | Press Releases

9 November 2019 London,UK: Today Green Man Gaming launched its Digital Partners Program by revealing details of a new global partnership deal with 10 Chambers Collective; the first studio to be announced as part of this new service proposition for indie studios and developers.

  • The Digital Partners Program with Green Man Gaming launched today and is now open to all independent studios and developers worldwide.
  • Green Man Gaming announced that 10 Chambers Collective are the first studio to be involved in the program.
  • Details revealed about the exciting new global partnership deal between Green Man Gaming and 10 Chambers Collective for the multi-award winning Game GTFO, available on Steam early access for $34.99/ GBP29.99/ EU34.99 from 09 Dec 2019.

A fresh approach to empowering and enabling indie studios and developers to raise their profile and successfully navigate their route to market, The Digital Partners Program by Green Man Gaming has been specifically designed to be a collaborative, flexible, and valuable service that allows developers to retain control of their revenue and IP whilst accessing an elastic range of services and expertise.

Paul Sulyok, CEO Green Man Gaming said, “Over the last 6 months we’ve been working on this new service proposition in reaction to what we think are dusty old school publishing and distribution models. We’ve taken everything we’ve learned from working with indie studios and devs over the past decade and applied this to create the Digital Partners Program. We’ll be there to help when and where it’s needed. We’ve stripped away any unnecessary, bloated fixed terms to instead offer greater choice and flexibility with access to our publishing, distribution, retail, marketing and community expertise all in one contract that directly connects developers to every digital retailer on the planet. I don’t believe there’s anyone else but the Green Man Gaming team who is able to deliver a more customizable digital partnership that is of true value to developers.”

Ian McGregor, CMO Green Man Gaming said, “What makes this launch really special for us is being able to announce and welcome 10 Chambers Collective as the first studio to be part of the Digital Partners Program. We are really flattered that they have chosen us to support them on the early access launch of GTFO on 9th December. For GTFO, Green Man Gaming will together with 10 Chambers Collective focus on a global distribution strategy that ensures the game reaches as many gamers as possible, as opposed to a publishing contract that would also include product readiness and a marketing strategy. To be working with such great studio talent and helping them succeed in a way that is tailored to suit them is what this new Digital Partners Program is all about.”

Oscar J-T Holm, Co-Founder of 10 Chamber Collective said, “We are really proud of our community and our GTFO ambassadors who have already helped us share what the game is about. GTFO is not for everyone, but there are players around the world who love a hardcore co-op challenge that have been eagerly waiting for the game to hit Early Access. We were looking for a very specific type of support as part of our preparation for today, and were struggling to find a deal that wasn’t just another one-type-fits-all or included terms that just wouldn’t work for us. That was until we collaborated with Green Man Gaming as part of this new Digital Partners Program. Having them focus on one area of the launch has been a huge help and we can’t wait to now welcome more people into the game.”

GTFO is a 4-player action/horror cooperative first-person shooter for hardcore gamers looking for a real challenge. Players get to play as a team of prisoners, forced to explore and extract valuable artifacts from a vast underground complex that has been overrun by terrifying creatures. Green Man Gaming Joins the United Nations’ Fight Against Climate Change

By | Press Releases

New York, 23rd September 2019 – Green Man Gaming, one of the world’s biggest e-tailer of digital download games, has pledged to work with its community on a major reforestation initiative which was announced last night in New York City, at the United Nations Climate Summit Conference.

The alliance – a collective of some of the world’s biggest names in video gaming have all made individual pledges. Their mission is to help to alert and inspire the video games community about our carbon gaming print, drive carbon neutral and energy efficiency projects, and manage restoration programmes to help tackle the climate change crisis.

Green Man Gaming’s commitment is to lead a restoration programme by planting trees, starting in the first quarter of 2020. Green Man Gaming will be partnering with a certified and well-known tree planting organisation, to be announced shortly. The programme will launch in the UK to begin with, and then extend into other international markets from 2021.

Funds will be raised through sales of selected games on Green Man Gaming’s ecommerce platform. This will then be invested in a planting programme, which will result in an estimated additional 200 acres of new trees in year one. Paul Sulyok, CEO and Founder of Green Man Gaming, said.

“Green Man Gaming has a direct and pretty personal relationship with hundreds of millions of gamers globally.

Many of us really care about what we are doing to the planet. We know we’ve all got to face up and fess up, and take more positive action. We’ve always beaten the drum for digital downloads – so plastic free gaming – and we’re now trying to up our game to do the best we can to support the planet. These may be small acorns, but if we all rally round, it will make a much needed impact.”

The Alliance was formally launched at the UN Climate Summit yesterday with new members set to come on board in the weeks ahead and activities planned at some of the biggest gaming events across the world.

Green Man Gaming Publishing and LGBTQ+ Charity Kaleidoscope Trust, Partner for Launch of New Game, Pride Run

By | Press Releases

Publisher will donate 10% of proceeds from the sale of Pride Run worldwide to support the charity’s work with the global LGBTQ+ community

Check out the brand-new trailer here – https://youtu.be/NKD5Cq–o2c

London, UK, 19th September 2019: Green Man Gaming Publishing and Kaleidoscope Trust, a charity working to uphold the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people internationally, today announce a revenue donation partnership, with proceeds coming from the sales of the upcoming rhythm action game, Pride Run.

Pride Run, created by Italian studio IV Productions, will hit Steam for PC on National Coming Out Day in the US – 11th October 2019. Much more than a simple beat matching game, Pride Run offers a challenge for gamers of all abilities. With ‘Vanilla’ mode tasking the player to keep their own Pride parade on track they are required to ‘tap the beat’. However, more experienced players can choose ‘Play Hard’ mode which layers on real time tactics and strategy as they battle to protect the parade from haters around the globe.

Understanding the importance of inclusivity in gaming, Green Man Gaming is donating 10 percent of proceeds from the sales of the game to international LGBTQ+ charity, Kaleidoscope Trust.

David Clark, Managing Director, Green Man Gaming Publishing, said:

“Since before we announced Pride Run back in July, the most important goals for Green Man Gaming have been to really get behind our corporate values of inclusivity and diversity. We’re very happy to be able to demonstrate this through our partnership with Kaleidoscope Trust, where we’ll be able to donate to a great cause that works to uphold the rights of the LGBTQ+ community internationally. Speaking of the partnership, Kaleidoscope Trust Executive Director Phyll Opoku-Gyimah said: “It was wonderful to get a preview of Pride Run when we first met with Green Man Gaming and it’s a really fun game that we are all excited to play. At Kaleidoscope Trust we believe it should never be illegal to be you, yet over 70 countries make it a crime for LGBT+ people to be who they are and to love who they love. In many countries around the world people cannot live freely as LGBT+ individuals, much less attend Pride events where they live.”

“We are therefore delighted to announce our partnership with Green Man Gaming and are pleased that the company has such an inclusive policy in what we understand can sometimes be a toxic environment for LGBT+ gamers. Through the launch of Pride Run, we hope to harness the support of the gaming community not only to raise funds for the work that Kaleidoscope Trust does to advance LGBT+ rights internationally, but to help open up conversations within the gaming community – and beyond – about discrimination against LGBT+ people around the world.”

Ivan Venturi, CEO & Game Director of developer IV Productions said:

“We’re a diverse development team, and many of us have been lucky enough to attend different Pride events around the world. We felt it was about time someone gamified the sheer energy, passion and extravagance that emanates from these celebrations of LGBTQ+ culture. Even better when we can celebrate Pride and give back to the community at the same time.”

Pride Run features: –

  • A soundtrack guaranteed to make you dance. But are you good enough to turn this into an awesome Pride parade?
  • Take on one of two game modes – Vanilla and Play Hard. In Play Hard mode, choose which groups to add to the parade to take on those who question LGBTQ+ rights – from keyboard warriors to world leaders. In Vanilla mode you’ll follow the beat along the streets of each city.

Green Man Gaming and 10 Chambers Collective announce new global partnership deal as part of Digital Partners Programme launch

By | Press Releases

London, UK, Monday 9th December – Today Green Man Gaming launched its Digital Partners Programme by revealing details of a new global partnership deal with 10 Chambers Collective; the first studio to be announced as part of this new service proposition for indie studios and developers.

  • The Digital Partners Programme with Green Man Gaming launched today and is now open to all independent studios and developers worldwide.
  • Green Man Gaming announced that 10 Chambers Collective are the first studio to be involved in the programme.
  • Details revealed about the exciting new global partnership deal between Green Man Gaming and 10 Chambers Collective for the multi-award winning Game GTFO, available on Steam early access for $34.99/ GBP29.99/ EU34.99 from 09 Dec 2019.

A fresh approach to empowering and enabling indie studios and developers to raise their profile and successfully navigate their route to market, The Digital Partners Programme by Green Man Gaming has been specifically designed to be a collaborative, flexible, and valuable service that allows developers to retain control of their revenue and IP whilst accessing an elastic range of services and expertise.

Paul Sulyok, CEO Green Man Gaming said:

“Over the last 6 months we’ve been working on this new service proposition in reaction to what we think are dusty old school publishing and distribution models. We’ve taken everything we’ve learned from working with indie studios and devs over the past decade and applied this to create the Digital Partners Programme.

Ian McGregor, CMO Green Man Gaming said:

“What makes this launch really special for us is being able to announce and welcome 10 Chambers Collective as the first studio to be part of the Digital Partners Programme. We are really flattered that they have chosen us to support them on the early access launch of GTFO on 9th December. For GTFO, Green Man Gaming will focus on a global distribution strategy that ensures the game reaches as many gamers as possible, as opposed to a publishing contract that would also include product readiness and a marketing strategy. To be working with such great studio talent and helping them succeed in a way that is tailored to suit them is what this new Digital Partners Programme is all about.”

Oscar J-T Holm, Co-Founder of 10 Chamber Collective said:

“We are really proud of our community and our GTFO ambassadors who have already helped us share what the game is about. GTFO is not for everyone, but there are players around the world who love a hardcore co-op challenges that have been eagerly waiting for the game to hit early access. We were looking for a very specific type of support as part of our preparation for today, and were struggling to find a deal that wasn’t just another one-type-fits-all or included terms that just wouldn’t work for us. That was until we collaborated with Green Man Gaming as part of this new Digital Partners Programme. Having them focus on one area of the launch has been a huge help and we can’t wait to now welcome more people into the game.”

London, UK, 3rd July 2019: The music is pumping, the flags are waving, and spirits are high. Pride might only come once a year, but for those looking to keep the fun and festivities flowing long beyond the month of June, Pride Run is here to keep your pulses racing.

Taking the rhythm that powers Pride parades the world over, Pride Run – which will hit Steam for PC Fall 2019 – charges people with keeping their own parade on track, tapping to the beat to keep the party going. Lose the beat, however, and you’ll find the crowds start to trail off and the parade loses its draw.

Featuring exclusive tracks from the disco-metal fusion that is Hard Ton, it’s up to you to ensure that the crowds build, Pride lives up to its name and we bring the whole world together!

“We’re a diverse development team, and many of us have been lucky enough to attend different Prides around the world. We felt it was about time someone took the sheer energy, passion and extravagance that emanates from these celebrations of LGBTQ+ culture beyond attendees and out into the wider world,”

says Ivan Venturi ,CEO & Game Director of developer IV Productions.

“Players who successfully grow their parades will then be tasked with taking on a boss in a one-on-one dance duel” adds Venturi “with the victor taking control of the city – and, in the end, the world”.

“At its heart, Pride Run is a celebration of Pride events around the world,”

says Jonny Merritt, Head of Developer Relations at Green Man Gaming Publishing.

“The game focuses on rhythm, taking the beat that defines many a march and making it a foundation of play. We think the fun nature of what is definitely a light-hearted, celebratory take on the Pride movement will translate well with gamers across the globe. As part of the launch of the game, Green Man Gaming is exploring ways of supporting LGBTQ+ rights charities who we feel are aligned with our inclusivity and diversity values. More exciting news to come.”

Pride Run is a co-development with Steam Factory. Headed up by Giacomo Guccinelli, the team have delivered the super coloured, retro pixel over the top art style of the game.

Pride Run features: –

  • A sound track guaranteed to make you dance, but are you good enough to turn this into an awesome Pride parade?
  • Make all the people dance using your reflexes and rhythm.
  • Take on one of two game modes – Vanilla and Play Hard – whilst dancing to the beat of the amazing Hard Ton.
  • In Play Hard mode, choose which groups to add to the parades to take on those who question LGBTQ+ rights.
  • In Vanilla mode you’ll follow the beat along the streets of each city.
  • Pride Run spreads love and pride across 16 cities around the world.
  • It offers an intuitive control system for classic rhythm action entertainment.

Pride Run will launch on Steam for PC Fall 2019.
