By | Blog

Green Man Gaming Publishing are thrilled to announce their latest publishing deal and first ever console release. The partnership with French developer, DEVS MUST DIE, will bring Skybolt Zack – an all new take on high speed, reflex testing, platform action – to gamers worldwide later this year.

Skybolt Zack was originally created as a student project at Parisian video game school, ISART Digital Paris, and draws inspiration from classic platformers and Japanese rhythm games. Starting out on PC, Green Man Gaming Publishing will be taking its first step into the console market as the game will also launch on Nintendo Switch.

On the move to console, David Clark, Managing Director of Green Man Gaming Publishing, had this to say: “It has long been an ambition for Green Man Gaming to expand our horizons and extend our reach beyond PC gaming. When we first saw Skybolt Zack it was almost immediately apparent that this was the game for us to make that jump! The work that DEVS MUST DIE have done with Skybolt Zack in a relatively short time have impressed us tremendously. They are incorporating options for players which we’re not seeing in products from much larger, long standing studios and we can’t wait to show more to the community at various events across the summer.”

Green Man Gaming partners with St Mary’s University to offer internships to students from underrepresented backgrounds

Green man Gaming is thrilled to announce a partnership with St Mary’s University London as part of the BeSMART programme. See full release below:

Green Man Gaming partners with St Mary’s University to promote diversity in videogames

11th March 2021, London, UK: Green Man Gaming, the global video games eCommerce and technology business, is teaming up with St Mary’s University in Twickenham to offer internship and mentoring opportunities for BAME students, to promote diversity in the UK gaming sector.

Recent HESA data shows that BAME graduates are eight percent more likely to be unemployed than their white counterparts, as well as being less likely to have industry-specific work experience. BAME graduates tend to make 70-90 percent more applications than white graduates, yet once in role, tend to be less well paid.

UKIE estimates that approximately 10 percent of people working in games are BAME, which while higher than the creative industries, is lower than the software and IT industry. Significantly, 70 percent of people working in the games industry are male, a significant overrepresentation compared to the working population.

Through St Mary’s University’s BeSMART programme, Green Man Gaming will begin offering paid marketing internships at the firm, where they will rotate through all marketing divisions including performance marketing, brand, affiliate, influencers, CRM, and social media. They will also receive mentoring from senior Green Man Gaming staff across all areas of the business.

Ian McGregor, chief marketing officer at Green Man Gaming, said “During lockdown we have seen gamers of all ages, genders, and ethnicities taking up gaming at record levels in the UK. But the sector still fails to represent the gaming population. Diversity is a topic we at Green Man Gaming feel passionately about, and this is the latest initiative we have undertaken to improve the diversity of our sector and provide valuable skills and experience to the students who need it the most.

Obi Oputa, Career Consultant at St Mary’s University “St Mary’s University Employability Services is excited to be partnering with Green Man Gaming. It’s important that employers not just think about how to make their sectors and businesses more diverse and inclusive, but actually take action and Green Man Gaming is doing this! Through providing internships and mentoring for our students from underrepresented backgrounds, they are creating life and career enhancing opportunities, and furthering the pathways towards addressing some of the inequalities these students experience.”

Dr. Jo Twist OBE, CEO of Ukie, stated:

“The Tentacle Zone Incubator is a perfect example of how the principles of the industry-wide #RaiseTheGame pledge can be turned into meaningful action. “The UK’s games industry continues to be an impressive driving force for the nation’s economy, yet research shows, for example, that people of colour and women remain underrepresented, particularly in leadership roles. We’re proud to be collaborating on this vital programme to give opportunity for underrepresented founders from across England to grow their games businesses with support from the industry’s leaders.”

Darrenlloyd Gent, Programme Leader and Principal Lecturer, Games and Digital Media at University of Greenwich stated:

Green Man Gaming launch Digital Partners Program with a global partnership with 10 Chambers Collective

By | Press Releases

9 November 2019 London,UK: Today Green Man Gaming launched its Digital Partners Program by revealing details of a new global partnership deal with 10 Chambers Collective; the first studio to be announced as part of this new service proposition for indie studios and developers.

  • The Digital Partners Program with Green Man Gaming launched today and is now open to all independent studios and developers worldwide.
  • Green Man Gaming announced that 10 Chambers Collective are the first studio to be involved in the program.
  • Details revealed about the exciting new global partnership deal between Green Man Gaming and 10 Chambers Collective for the multi-award winning Game GTFO, available on Steam early access for $34.99/ GBP29.99/ EU34.99 from 09 Dec 2019.

A fresh approach to empowering and enabling indie studios and developers to raise their profile and successfully navigate their route to market, The Digital Partners Program by Green Man Gaming has been specifically designed to be a collaborative, flexible, and valuable service that allows developers to retain control of their revenue and IP whilst accessing an elastic range of services and expertise.

Paul Sulyok, CEO Green Man Gaming said, “Over the last 6 months we’ve been working on this new service proposition in reaction to what we think are dusty old school publishing and distribution models. We’ve taken everything we’ve learned from working with indie studios and devs over the past decade and applied this to create the Digital Partners Program. We’ll be there to help when and where it’s needed. We’ve stripped away any unnecessary, bloated fixed terms to instead offer greater choice and flexibility with access to our publishing, distribution, retail, marketing and community expertise all in one contract that directly connects developers to every digital retailer on the planet. I don’t believe there’s anyone else but the Green Man Gaming team who is able to deliver a more customizable digital partnership that is of true value to developers.”

Ian McGregor, CMO Green Man Gaming said, “What makes this launch really special for us is being able to announce and welcome 10 Chambers Collective as the first studio to be part of the Digital Partners Program. We are really flattered that they have chosen us to support them on the early access launch of GTFO on 9th December. For GTFO, Green Man Gaming will together with 10 Chambers Collective focus on a global distribution strategy that ensures the game reaches as many gamers as possible, as opposed to a publishing contract that would also include product readiness and a marketing strategy. To be working with such great studio talent and helping them succeed in a way that is tailored to suit them is what this new Digital Partners Program is all about.”

Oscar J-T Holm, Co-Founder of 10 Chamber Collective said, “We are really proud of our community and our GTFO ambassadors who have already helped us share what the game is about. GTFO is not for everyone, but there are players around the world who love a hardcore co-op challenge that have been eagerly waiting for the game to hit Early Access. We were looking for a very specific type of support as part of our preparation for today, and were struggling to find a deal that wasn’t just another one-type-fits-all or included terms that just wouldn’t work for us. That was until we collaborated with Green Man Gaming as part of this new Digital Partners Program. Having them focus on one area of the launch has been a huge help and we can’t wait to now welcome more people into the game.”

GTFO is a 4-player action/horror cooperative first-person shooter for hardcore gamers looking for a real challenge. Players get to play as a team of prisoners, forced to explore and extract valuable artifacts from a vast underground complex that has been overrun by terrifying creatures. Gather weapons, tools, and resources to help you survive – and work to unearth the answers about your past and how to escape.

  • 4 player cooperative PvE gameplay that puts you and your teammates through the ultimate cooperation and communication test
  • Explore a massive underground complex with a dense and dark atmosphere
  • Plan your expedition, equip and operate tools, combine your firepower, communicate and coordinate as a team – every detail counts if you are to survive the nightmare
  • Search the complex for information and resources to help you and your team solve your objectives and come back alive
  • The Rundown: New expeditions released regularly that always replaces the old expeditions. Our goal is to invent new ways of challenging you and your teammates in new and interesting ways
  • Nightmarish atmosphere accompanied by music from acclaimed composer Simon Viklund

GTFO will be available via Early Access on Steam for $34.99 / GBP29.99 / EU34.99 from Noon PST / 9PM CET 9th December 2019.

However, more experienced players can choose ‘Play Hard’ mode which layers on real time tactics and strategy as they battle to protect the parade from haters around the globe.

Understanding the importance of inclusivity in gaming, Green Man Gaming is donating 10 percent of proceeds from the sales of the game to international LGBTQ+ charity, Kaleidoscope Trust.

David Clark, Managing Director, Green Man Gaming Publishing, said:

“Since before we announced Pride Run back in July, the most important goals for Green Man Gaming have been to really get behind our corporate values of inclusivity and diversity. We’re very happy to be able to demonstrate this through our partnership with Kaleidoscope Trust, where we’ll be able to donate to a great cause that works to uphold the rights of the LGBTQ+ community internationally. Speaking of the partnership, Kaleidoscope Trust Executive Director Phyll Opoku-Gyimah said: “It was wonderful to get a preview of Pride Run when we first met with Green Man Gaming and it’s a really fun game that we are all excited to play. At Kaleidoscope Trust we believe it should never be illegal to be you, yet over 70 countries make it a crime for LGBT+ people to be who they are and to love who they love. In many countries around the world people cannot live freely as LGBT+ individuals, much less attend Pride events where they live.”

“We are therefore delighted to announce our partnership with Green Man Gaming and are pleased that the company has such an inclusive policy in what we understand can sometimes be a toxic environment for LGBT+ gamers. Through the launch of Pride Run, we hope to harness the support of the gaming community not only to raise funds for the work that Kaleidoscope Trust does to advance LGBT+ rights internationally, but to help open up conversations within the gaming community – and beyond – about discrimination against LGBT+ people around the world.”

Ivan Venturi, CEO & Game Director of developer IV Productions said:

“We’re a diverse development team, and many of us have been lucky enough to attend different Pride events around the world. We felt it was about time someone gamified the sheer energy, passion and extravagance that emanates from these celebrations of LGBTQ+ culture. Even better when we can celebrate Pride and give back to the community at the same time.”
